Optically, coma and other aberrations are well corrected to provide sharp pictures of high contrast across its entire aperture range and focusing distance. Despite it has one full f-stop fater lens speed than its slower f/2.8 counterpart, this great Nikkor wideangle lens is not significantly larger or heavier in its size and weight. Its rational lens composition was specially designed to counter common optical abberations such as spherical aberration, which is especially common at full aperture in wideangle lenses of retrofocus design. The f/2.0 maximum aperture and the ability of stopping down the minimum aperture of f/22 provide a great range of 8 aperture settings for creative aperture control.
