The bright f/1.4 aperture allows shooting in low light and provides control over depth of field. An 11-blade rounded diaphragm produces smooth out-of-focus backgrounds, while the optical design delivers high sharpness and controls chromatic aberrations.

For video work, the aperture ring can be de-clicked for smooth exposure adjustments during a take. A stepping motor provides fast, quiet autofocus, complemented by a customizable AFL button and a dedicated AF/MF switch.
